We're having a special sign-up night on August 26th!
Cub Scout Pack 396 serves boys and girls in grades K–5 around Brownsburg, Indiana. We meet on some Tuesdays. Our dens (each grade) meet once or twice per month, and our pack (all grades) meets once a month. That's a total of two or three fun meetings per month for your family to enjoy. Most of our programming is during the school year, but there are optional summer activities too.
You may join anytime, and you're welcome to check us out before joining. We look forward to meeting you in person! Ask to be contacted or follow our New Cub Scout Checklist to get started.
Our den meetings are focused on completing Adventures to progress along the advancement trail.
Our pack events may include: themed meetings focused on an Adventure; events like the Pinewood Derby or Raingutter Regatta; hikes and campouts; service or conversation projects, and guest speakers such as Miss Liz the Science Wiz.
"Do we have to be experienced campers?" No outdoor experience is required. Scouting is a great way for both youth and adults to develop new skills.
"Are youth with special needs welcome?" Yes, let us know about your specific needs, and visit ablescouts.org/toolbox to learn more.
"How do I transfer from another unit?" Either ask us about transferring your national membership to our pack or contact our council's member care team for assistance.
"Is Cub Scouts religious?" All Scouts are reverent — they respect the beliefs of others — but our pack does not require or promote any specific religion. The minimal requirements related to Family & Reverence will be addressed at home. We welcome people of all backgrounds.
"What comes after Cub Scouts?" Youth ages 11–17 may join the Scouts BSA program (formerly Boy Scouts); Contact Troop 396 (boys) or Troop 3960 (girls) for more info.
"How is Cub Scouts different from Boy Scouts?"
In Cub Scouts, a pack is adult-led and provides ready-made opportunities for families to enjoy fun activities together. Youth ages 5–10 may join Pack 396.
In Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts), a troop is youth-led and aims to help young people develop self-confidence and leadership skills. Youth in a Scouts BSA troop plan and carry out on fun activities and goals, while their adult leaders are providing a safe and encouraging environment to enable the youth to succeed. Youth 11–17 may join Troop 396 for boys or Troop 3960 for girls.
