The uniform is a method of Scouting:
"Cub Scout uniforms serve a dual purpose, demonstrating that a Scout is part of a team and showing individual achievement (Scouts wear the badges they’ve earned). Wearing the uniform to meetings and activities also encourages a neat appearance, and good behavior."
See each section for expanded answers on what uniform items are needed. Our pack only uses field uniform tops and neckerchiefs w/ slides; other uniform purchases are optional. Ask us about our uniform exchange after joining.
Handbooks are not required unless noted in a section below, but your child may enjoy reading one, and it contains useful information for adults as well.
Note: At graduation, all Scouts except new Webelos will be awarded the neckerchief & slide for their next rank. You are welcome to keep your previous neckerchief & slide, or you can donate it to our uniform exchange. Webelos will be awarded an Arrow of Light handbook instead.
Wearing a pack t-shirt is fine for all den & pack events. The field uniform for Lions is the Lion t-shirt. Whichever one you can acquire first will do.

For pack meetings or public outings, the field uniform is best; For den meetings, follow the advice of the den leader.
By the way, if someone tells you to wear a "Class A uniform," they mean the field uniform. If they say "Class B uniform" or "activity uniform," they mean a pack t-shirt (or other Scouting t-shirt).
